Message from Plantation Estates:
REMIND YOUR MEMBERS TO LOCK THEIR VEHICLE DOORS. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE HAPPENING IN ALL OF JEFFERSON PARISH LATELY BECAUSE IT REQUIRES VERY LITTLE EFFORT AND MAKES NO NOISE. WHEN THE DOORS ARE UNLOCKED, THEY KNOW THE ALARM IS NOT SET EITHER.
Not sure if you have similar issues in your neighborhoods, but we're still having every few months kids coming around to test for unlocked vehicles at early hours of the morning.
Warn your homeowners to LOCK THEIR DOORS.
They are NOT actually taking the time to break into the vehicles. Simply looking for the easy payoff of an unlocked door. This occurred on June 17, 2013 (between 3:00 AM and 3:30 AM). They got in a bunch of cars this night and a homeowner caught this on video. The guy comes from the backyard, tests the door handle and gets in the car. He stays in the car digging around, then walks to the front of the driveway over to the next yard.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWpphqqGxIo Video of the guy breaking the homeowners automated electric gate. And shows best image of the guys face and body size.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNrnRxgdGCg Video of camera that is facing the street. Notice the guy walking in the background as he went door to door.
MORE IMPORTANTLY, watch the video to the end because after he walks out of range for the camera, a vehicle comes in the cul-de-sac only minutes after he walks out of the camera. Possibly a pickup vehicle because the car turns around, sits idle for about 2 minutes like they are trying to find their way out of the dead end.
