Parish President John F. Young, Jr. will officially light the way for this holiday season in Lafreniere Park on Friday December 3, 2010 at 6 p.m.
To kick off the event The Jefferson Parish Parks and Recreation Department Drama Club will perform Christmas carols on stage beginning at 5:30 p.m.Holiday in the Park will open Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.
The year will include more than 100 beautiful lighted displays such as gators, soldiers, shrimp, crawfish, crabs, candles, elves and carolers. A brand new lighted Saints display with a Fleur de Lis and the Lombardi Trophy will be featured. The Carousel will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during Holiday in the Park.
The Downs Boulevard Park entrance will be closed at 5 p.m.; vehicles will enter the park only from West Napoleon Avenue and exit on Veterans Boulevard or West Napoleon Avenue.
Entrance fee is $3 per vehicle. Upon entering the park, traffic will flow counter-clockwise around the park. You may drive through the display along Downs Boulevard or park and walk through the display on Pavilion and Mall islands.
Hot chocolate, soft drinks and popcorn will be available as you stroll or drive through the displayed area. Be among the first to collect the commemorative “Holiday in the Park” t-shirts on sale for just $10.
Holiday in the Park is inviting the public to join us with free admission on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
